"So you're the Grand Duke's messenger?"

Koai was guided to a road further past the edge of the village, where she met a human soldier. The moment the soldier saw Koai approach, he immediately knelt and kept his face lowered.

"Yes, my lady. I have come to deliver a personal letter entrusted to me by His Grace, Grand Duke Federico of Angel."

"A personal letter...?"

"Indeed. From His Grace the Grand Duke, who oversees the affairs of state, to Lady Koai..."

The soldier, with his face still lowered, held out the letter on his open palm.

"Raise your head. How do you know that I am Koai?"

Koai asked before taking the letter.

"I, too, was at that place... the Bohal Wasteland."

As he answered, the soldier turned his face toward Koai. Though she wasn't certain, she felt she had seen his features before.
